Now other women that suffered this horror need to come forward

SINEAD O’Connor has called in the cops to find a baby she saw “stolen” from a young mum in a Magdalene laundry.

The singer claimed last week that she had witnessed a newborn boy being torn from a friend’s arms during her stint at a north Dublin convent in the Eighties.
And on Friday night Sinead, 46, reported the traumatic incident to gardai in Bray, Co Wicklow, after suspecting a cover-up by those involved.
A Garda spokesman yesterday confirmed officers have launched a criminal probe into the star’s allegations.
Calling on other witnesses to speak out, Sinead said: “On Friday I gave a formal statement to gardai. I am asking that any person who witnessed the gestation, nursing and/or removal of this child to please come forward also.
“In fact, any woman who has had a baby taken from them while in the care of one of these institutions should report the matter.
“Gardai have told me that women need to come forward if this has happened to them.”

Traumatic claim ... our story
Brave Sinead told the Irish Sun she was “satisfied” that detectives will now conduct a full investigation.
She also revealed how cops consider tracing the now 30-something male a matter of urgency — in case there are serious medical problems that he may not be aware of.
Last week Sinead opened her heart about the horrors she experienced at High Park, in Drumcondra, where she spent 18 months for stealing as a teen.
Shockingly, the singer recalled: “One morning I woke to hear my friend screaming. I ran out of my cubicle, I saw her surrounded by two or three nuns.
“They tore my friend’s baby from her arms. Her desperate beggings and pleadings and screams were ignored.
“She was physically overpowered and the baby was gone — with no trace of where he went.”
It is understood the nuns involved are now deceased.
But Sinead decided to go to the gardai when the order that ran High Park — the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity — denied knowledge of what she saw.
In a statement they said: “Our services never included mother and baby homes.”
