Maharashtra: Minor girl gangraped, murdered




A shocking case reported from Shirdi has once again brought to the fore the argument on whether rapists can and should be shown leniency at all? Here is a case of a repeat offender being acquitted once, striking again and then after conviction and a lenient sentence striking again. A 32-year-old man named Sunil Suresh alias Pappu Salve who was released from jail has allegedly again raped and murdered a minor girl in Shirdi town of Ahmednagar in Maharashtra. He was arrested on Saturday on charges of kidnapping a nine-year-old girl from Shirdi on December 28 that is just over two weeks ago. He was later produced in Rahata local court which remanded him to police custody till January 17.
